Hey folks,

There are just a few quick things that we want to share with you. Here is the latest.

Interview with TGT Media

Check out this podcast with host Kurt Sasso of TGT Media and guest co-host Alice Quinn of TDot Comics. It’s a very candid conversation with tons of great information. Phil and I agree that it’s the best interview that we have done yet. Click here to give it a listen.

Webcomic Coming Soon

During the interview, host Kurt Sasso asked why we didn’t release Vigilante Project as a web comic. Sadly, Phil and I didn’t have a good answer. We all agreed that a webcomic would likely bring more traffic and grow our fanbase, so, courtesy of Kurt lighting a fire under our butts, we are going to be updating the web site to accommodate a webcomic version of Vigilante Project. The goal is to have everything up by March 16th when Book One: The Guitar Hero debuts at WonderCon. Keep an eye out for this new development.

Book One

We believe that “The Guitar Hero” is going to blow you away!!! We’re getting closer and closer to our deadline and to WonderCon. We have posted a few Work In Progress pics on our Facebook and as updates to our Kickstarter page, so go check them out. But since you’re here, check out another Work In Progress (WIP) page by clicking here.

WonderCon

Issue One: The Guitar Hero will make its debut the weekend of March 16th at WonderCon in Anaheim. The show runs through the 18th and will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center. We’re at Small Press (SP) table number 77 so be sure to come out, say hello, and get a signed copy of the new book.

Yvette Avenue Events

On Saturday the 11th, we hosted our first event! As (super nerdy) members of the Orange County Star Wars Society, we were asked to host a celebration event for the release of Star Wars Episode One in 3D! We had Star Wars trivia, costume contests, live lightsaber fighting from members of OCSWS and So Cal Saber Guild, and two raffles to raise money for the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. We never set out to host or throw events, but everything went well and we had a blast. We’re thinking about doing another for Hunger Games and/or Avengers so stay tuned for that. Check out the pictures from Saturday by clicking here!

That’s it for this short update. Thanks for visiting and thank you for supporting Vigilante Project.

Hey folks. Chris here with another update. I hope that everyone had a great holiday. We did, and now thanks to all who donated to our Kickstarter project we’re back to work on the next book. Issue One: The Guitar Hero is going to blow you away. Here are a couple of pieces of art from the team.

What do you think? Let us know on our Facebook page, or send an e-mail to chris(at)vigilanteproject(dot)com.

WonderCon

Issue One will make its debut the weekend of March 16th at WonderCon in Anaheim. The show runs through the 18th and will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center so be sure to come out, get a signed copy of the new book, and have your picture taken with the creators. Who are we kidding? You don’t want a picture with us. You want a picture with Sarah or our t-shirt model Chava! Am I right? Well, God willing they both will be there, and we might even get to bring our artist Chris Campana out to do some sketches and to sign some books.

Stay tuned for more details.

Make You A Hero

Speaking of Sarah and sketches, she was one of the first characters that we ever created based on a real person and the response was overwhelming. It all started with our Kickstarter project where we offered backers an opportunity to create their own characters to appear in an upcoming book. Almost instantly it seemed that just about everyone wanted to be made into a comic book character. Since then we have been fielding requests and taking orders to make you into a comic book hero or villain. So I created a little GoDaddy web site called MakeYouAHero.com where you can be turned into a comic book hero or villain, so go check it out.

Movie Theater or Home Theater?

With all that’s happening with the comic series, our agent approached and has been approached by some television production companies about Vigilante Project as a cable television series. There have been some interesting talks, and a TV series is in development. Who knows where this could lead, but TV sounds good to us. We have so many in-depth story lines and so much character development in the comic, it’d be impossible to cram into a 2 hour movie. So the idea of a TV series is kind of like letting us off the leash. We’re still open to the film possibility but at this point we’d leave a lot of great work on the proverbial table. Hollywood staff writers? I can dig it.

Sarah Reinertsen

Thank you to all that came out and saw us at the Comikaze Expo! We had a great time, met a lot of people, and made some new friends. We have tons of pictures over on our Facebook page so be sure to Like us over there and check them out.

Our full color, 10-page preview book (called an ashcan) made its official debut at the show. We created the ashcan to tell a little bit of the story and to showcase the talent of our team. However our ultimate goal is to secure large-scale distribution from one of the bigger names in comic book publishing, some of which we met and spoke with at the Expo. If you picked up a copy at the Expo, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. However, if you weren’t able to make it, copies will be available through our online store by the end of the week.

We feel that our chances of securing a publishing/distribution deal increase dramatically if we have a full issue to show in addition to the ashcan. We paid for the ashcan out of pocket, but publishing a full length, 24 page book is out of our price range. What’s the solution? Kickstarter.com.

Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects. Basically, we tell you all about our project, and if you believe in it you can donate to help it get made. You decide how much you want to donate, but you are only charged if we reach our goal. Donations are processed when the successfully funded project ends, and all donations are processed through Amazon.com. The really cool part is that for your donation, you get a reward. Our rewards include posters, key chains, t-shirts, and more. You can get INSTANT access to a digital copy of the book, and pre-order Book One when you donate to our Kickstarter project. Check out our Kickstarter video below.

With your help, we are hoping to raise enough money to produce the first full-length book of the series, “The Guitar Hero”. This book would be an industry standard 24 pages in length. Like the ashcan it’d be full color, and would feature the same team of talented artists. Once made, with or without a major publisher or distributor, we expect that the sales of that book will help offset future production costs, allowing us to continue the series, putting out new issues on a regular, consistent basis. Please visit our Kickstarter project now to learn more about the project, about our incentives, and of course to donate.

That’s it for this update. Be sure to check back next week after the Comikaze Expo for updates and pictures!

Hey folks,

Lately we have been hard at work getting ready for the Comikaze Expo coming November 5th and 6th to the Los Angeles Convention Center. Vigilante Project creators Phil Morgenthaler and Chris Dickens will have a table in the Artist’s Alley so be sure to stop by. There is so much to do in preparation. Here’s a short list of what we’re working on.

We’ve got to finish the book (ashcan). The team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the project and we will be headed to the printer soon. It’s 8 pages in length, full color, and if you come by our table at Comikaze, it’ll be signed by the creators!

If you aren’t able to make it to the Comikaze Expo, the ashcan and Book One: The Guitar Hero will be available through Kickstarter! That’s right! Coming October 28th, Vigilante Project will launch our very own Kickstarter project. The money that we raise through Kickstarter will go toward the production costs of Book One. Look at it like a pre-order. For your donation you could receive pdf copies of both the ashcan and Book One, signed, bagged, and boarded copies of both, posters, t-shirts, key chains, and a grand prize that will allow you to change and influence the Vigilante Project universe forever. Stay tuned for more details, and be ready to visit Kickstarter on October 28th to (pre)order your copies of Vigilante Project: The Confessional.

Speaking of t-shirts, we are finalizing and ordering t-shirts for the Expo. To preview of all of the new Vigilante Project t-shirt designs, including our new and controversial t-shirt, go here now, and don’t forget to visit our online store.

We’re printing flyers and promotional materials. Check out a full size view of the promo flyer here. On back will be our Kickstarter information.

So, if you’re in the L.A. area, you need to be at Comikaze Expo November 5th and 6th. But don’t take it from me, take it from Stan Lee, the Guest of Honor!

And that’s it for this update. Lots to do, and not a lot of time. Thank you for following along, and thank you for supporting Vigilante Project. Be sure to join the Vigilante Project Comic Book page on Facebook as soon as possible.

Ladies and Gents,

The name of this update is teamwork as it has become an important theme these past few weeks. As some of you know, we recently signed with Killing The Grizzly, a Los Angeles literary agency that represents both film and graphic novels. Part of our collective strategy for bringing Vigilante Project to the big screen is to leverage the Vigilante Project comic book concept.

Hollywood loves a winner, and having an awesome, completed work in hand speaks volumes. Especially when that work has such an awesome fan base and following such as ours. So based on the success of this comic book, and considering the following that we have built (and will continue to build as time goes on), we hope to get step closer to a theater near you.

As a result, I have been busier than a one-toothed beaver in a tsunami putting together a team of writers and artists to get the Vigilante Project comic book started. We are proud to announce that the team has been assembled. Their bios and even our first piece of collective art are over on the comic page. I encourage you to check out the concept and the art as soon as possible!

That’s about it for this update. Be sure to join the new Vigilante Project Comic Book page on Facebook as soon as possible. As usual, if you can assist us in getting Vigilante Project on the big screen, contact us now!

Vigilante Project is proud to announce that we have secured representation! Needless to say, we’re excited and can’t wait to see where we go from here. We couldn’t have partnered up with a better agency to represent who we are, and what we’re about. I know that I am being vague but we’re keeping the details under wraps until the ink dries on the contracts.

There are more details to follow but just know that we are taking things to the next level. The comic/graphic novel is headed in an awesome new direction, and the film has never been stronger. Keep your eyes peeled for new branding and exposure tools including a Vigilante Project iPhone and Android app!

In case you forgot, July 2nd marked the 1 year anniversary of the completion and release of the Vigilante Project demo reel/trailer. I’m sure you have seen it by now, but I invite you to share it with your friends. Point them to the Film page where it has been freshly embedded, or visit our YouTube page to share it from there.

Vigilante Project (VP) rolls on. We’ve taken our operation to a new level as we are in the process of securing an agent, and even a publicist to help take VP to the masses. Our social media blitz is going well. We’ve branched out to LinkedIn and our Facebook fan page now has over 500 fans! Operation Twitter has been a success but we could always use more followers. As we continue to reach out to different companies, producers, agents, and even publicists, we want to thank you for your support. Keep the faith, and keep spreading the word. We’re getting closer.

Don’t forget, it’s been almost a year since we shot and released the Vigilante Project demo reel/trailer. To celebrate, watch it again! Head on over to the Film page where it has been freshly embedded, or visit our YouTube page to watch it there.

Before we go, Phil and I wanted to shout out our friend, filmmaker (and Vigilante Project supporter) Gerard Roxburgh. His film Once I Was a Champion premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival this weekend and I know that he is excited. This is a big weekend for Gerard, Tapout Films, the UFC, as well as the friends and family of Evan Tanner! Congrats to all of them.

Vigilante Project has developed a following amongst comic book and anime fans, having presented the film and graphic novel concepts at Anime Expo, and Long Beach Comic Con panels, to very warm receptions. We have received extremely positive notes and coverage from some of the best in the industry, as well as interest from actors, and even some indie producers. However, we believe that Vigilante Project is a big budget film, and to make those types of contacts we need an agent.

So, if you are an agent, know an agent, or can otherwise assist us in getting Vigilante Project on the big screen, contact us now!

In other news, Yvette Avenue Productions has started work on our Magnum Opus. If you like science fiction, martial arts, space combat, or all of the above, then you’re going to love this! This new screenplay is the concept that started Yvette Avenue Productions from way back when we were in Junior High School. Stay tuned for more details as we progress with this new endeavor.

Also, it’s been almost a year since we shot and released the Vigilante Project demo reel/trailer. To celebrate, watch it again! Head on over to the Film page where it has been freshly embedded, or visit our YouTube page to watch it there.

Thank you for your support. The dream is alive and well. Don’t stop believing.

Today Yvette Avenue Productions returned to the Anaheim Convention Center for the 2011 Anaheim Comic Con.

My how things change in a year. We are so much further along than we were at this time last year. We have made so many contacts, and we have learned so much. This year it was much easier to meet and speak with some of the stars there. It was especially gratifying to be able to exchange contact information, to e-mail scripts, show the demo reel/trailer, and to network like never before.

We’d like to say a special thank you to some of the folks that we met today, for taking the time to speak with us and for showing interest in the project.

We really enjoyed speaking with True Blood’s Greg Collins, and we love him for the role of Sergeant Major. Thanks Greg and I hope to speak with you again soon.

A big thank you goes out to Cory Hardrict from Battle: Los Angeles who we spoke to about playing the lead, Alvin Gentry and being involved with the project.

Erin Grey of Silver Spoons and Buck Rogers was a joy to speak with. Thank you Erin for spending some time with us, and we love you for the Detective Hopkins role. We can’t wait to hear what you think of the script.

We absolutely loved the humility of newcomer Deena Trudy who will be starring in the new Marvel film, Thor! Deena, you are a breath of fresh air, and we really enjoyed talking with you. We look forward to hearing your feedback after reading the script.

Rick Worthy from the new Battlestar Galactica was the man! Rick, we had so much fun talking with you. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, and I hope that we can work together in the future. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts after reading Vigilante Project.

We want to thank Star Trek Voyager’s Robert Picardo who took the time to speak with us. Once we get a few things tied down, we will reach out to you again about the role of the Senator.

Shouts out to Claudia Wells. She was a blast to talk with as was Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters and The Crow fame. I hope that you like the script Claudia and I can’t wait to hear back from you and Ernie.

Stacy Carter aka ”Miss Kitty”of WWE fame and her husband Sinn were awesome. You should check out their site at www.SinnvsStacy.com.

The Winner Twins were very impressive. These girls are about their business, and they definitely know the game. We really enjoyed talking with you girls, and I can’t wait to start on the book. Check them out at www.WinnerTwins.com.

Stephen Tobolowsky was great to talk to as well. Stephen, we love your work, and I look forward to seeing you on Californication.
